Applied Kinesiology
Health solutions focused on you, not the disease
Applied Kinesiology
In its relatively short history, Applied Kinesiology (AK) has become a dynamic movement in healthcare. By combining the terms “applied” and “kinesiology,” this system uses manual muscle testing to evaluate body function through the dynamics of the musculoskeletal system. Applied Kinesiology’s non-invasive treatments may include:
- Specific joint manipulation or mobilization
- A variety of myofascial therapies
- Cranial techniques
- Meridian and acupuncture skills
- Clinical nutrition
- Dietary management
- Counseling skills
- Evaluating environmental irritants
- Various reflex procedures

Applied Kinesiology is Based on the Triad of Health
The triad of health refers to the three primary causes of all health issues: structural, chemical, and mental. All health issues are rooted in at least one, and sometimes all, of the elements of the triad.
In “The Science, Art, and Philosophy of Chiropractic”, D.D. Palmer, the founder of chiropractic, states, “The determining causes of disease are traumatism, poison, and autosuggestion.” These three causes relate directly to the body’s structural, chemical, and mental systems.
Applied kinesiology (AK) allows a doctor to evaluate the triad’s functional balance and focus on treating the imbalanced side(s). The skills used in AK are refined using chiropractic, osteopathy, medicine, dentistry, acupuncture, biochemistry, psychology, homeopathy, and naturopathy. The practitioners in these specialties share their knowledge through the publications and conferences of the International College of Applied Kinesiology (ICAK) and its chapters.
