You depend upon your microbiome for many crucial aspects of your health, including your digestion, your metabolism\u2014and your weight.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"normal\">\n<p id=\"viewer-3agd9\" class=\"-kA22 pbpjT YY-zb _3DWex\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"k6Gbk\">Without a healthy microbiome, you won\u2019t have a healthy gut.nAnd without a healthy gut, you will find it extremely difficult to lose weight\u2026and even more difficult to <em style=\"font-style: italic;\">keep <\/em>it off.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"normal\">\n<p id=\"viewer-7qge0\" class=\"-kA22 pbpjT YY-zb _3DWex\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"k6Gbk\">So let\u2019s take a closer look.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"normal\">\n<p id=\"viewer-4ugcl\" class=\"-kA22 pbpjT YY-zb _3DWex\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"k6Gbk\"><strong style=\"font-weight: bold;\">What Keeps Your Gut Healthy? <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"normal\">\n<p id=\"viewer-f1gpc\" class=\"-kA22 pbpjT YY-zb _3DWex\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"k6Gbk\">Conventional medicine views your gut and your immune system as two separate systems. In reality, though, they are closely related\u2014and your microbiome is crucial to both.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"normal\">\n<p id=\"viewer-a3oi7\" class=\"-kA22 pbpjT YY-zb _3DWex\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"k6Gbk\">The lining of your gut wall is one cell thick. Right on the other side of that cell wall is your immune system.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"normal\">\n<div id=\"viewer-9hson\" class=\"-kA22 pbpjT YY-zb _3DWex\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"k6Gbk\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"normal\">\n<p id=\"viewer-fkj1g\" class=\"-kA22 pbpjT YY-zb _3DWex\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"k6Gbk\">So any time the cells of your gut wall are not functioning optimally, your immune system suffers.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"normal\">\n<p id=\"viewer-76rr7\" class=\"-kA22 pbpjT YY-zb _3DWex\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"k6Gbk\">And what keeps your gut wall in tip-top shape? You\u2019re your gut and your immune system will thank you for it.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"normal\">\n<p id=\"viewer-1vh2e\" class=\"-kA22 pbpjT YY-zb _3DWex\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"k6Gbk\"><strong style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Unhealthy Gut, Unhealthy Weight<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"normal\">\n<p id=\"viewer-80qmj\" class=\"-kA22 pbpjT YY-zb _3DWex\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"k6Gbk\">An unhealthy gut leads to weight gain in a number of ways:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"normal\">\n<ul class=\"e0ul2 YY-zb\">\n<li class=\"_5EHX7\" dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: AUTO; margin-inline-start: 1.5em; list-style-type: disc;\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p id=\"viewer-3u3sc\" class=\"-kA22 pbpjT YY-zb _3DWex\" dir=\"\"><span class=\"k6Gbk\"><strong style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Lack of nutrient absorption. <\/strong>If your gut is not functioning properly, you are frequently failing to absorb the nutrients you need. This throws your whole metabolism out of whack. Not only will you find it harder to lose weight\u2026you will often end up gaining.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"_5EHX7\" dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: AUTO; margin-inline-start: 1.5em; list-style-type: disc;\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p id=\"viewer-csl9m\" class=\"-kA22 pbpjT YY-zb _3DWex\" dir=\"\"><span class=\"k6Gbk\"><strong style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Bacterial overgrowth. <\/strong>An imbalanced microbiome leads to an overgrowth of unfriendly bacteria. The side effects of inflammation, however, are very problematic. They include acne, fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, depression\u2014and weight gain. Ultimately, inflammation can lead to heart disease, diabetes, autoimmune disorders, and even cancer.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"_5EHX7\" dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: AUTO; margin-inline-start: 1.5em; list-style-type: disc;\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p id=\"viewer-888qk\" class=\"-kA22 pbpjT YY-zb _3DWex\" dir=\"\"><span class=\"k6Gbk\"><strong style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Not enough butyrate. <\/strong>A healthy gut produces <em style=\"font-style: italic;\">butyrate, <\/em>a biochemical that speaks directly to your genes. Butyrate can turn on your weight-loss genes. It also supports your metabolism in a number of other ways. The following steps can help you support your microbiome, heal your gut, and lose unwanted weight:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"normal\">\n<ul class=\"e0ul2 YY-zb\">\n<li class=\"_5EHX7\" dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: AUTO; margin-inline-start: 1.5em; list-style-type: disc;\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p id=\"viewer-89kra\" class=\"-kA22 pbpjT YY-zb _3DWex\" dir=\"\"><span class=\"k6Gbk\"><strong style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Eat lots of fermented foods: <\/strong>sauerkraut, yogurt (plain, unflavored, packaged without fruit), kimchee (a Korean fermented cabbage), kefir (a type of fermented milk, must also be plain and packaged without fruit). These support your microbiome and help to replenish the healthy bacteria that your gut needs to be healthy as well.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"_5EHX7\" dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: AUTO; margin-inline-start: 1.5em; list-style-type: disc;\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p id=\"viewer-922eb\" class=\"-kA22 pbpjT YY-zb _3DWex\" dir=\"\"><span class=\"k6Gbk\"><strong style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Cut out sugar, refined flour, trans fats, hydrogenated fats. <\/strong>These fed unhealthy bacteria, disrupt gut function, and create weight-promoting inflammation.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"_5EHX7\" dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: AUTO; margin-inline-start: 1.5em; list-style-type: disc;\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p id=\"viewer-bvpqv\" class=\"-kA22 pbpjT YY-zb _3DWex\" dir=\"\"><span class=\"k6Gbk\"><strong style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Take probiotics: <\/strong>powders, pills, or capsules containing billions of healthy bacteria.
