I was recently taking a walk around my neighborhood, when I stopped dead in my tracks after spotting a cluster of small lavender and canary yellow colored, fragile flowers popping out of the ground among the gravel and grass. The flower is called a crocus and it is one of the first signs of spring in D.C., where I live.
How could something so small stop me dead in my tracks? Simply, they reminded me that no matter how cold or difficult the weather might seem, the natural order of life is always creating new growth. This is the natural order of life and our bodies, we want to create fresh new cells. Thus, the theme for this month is taking a fresh look at our health creates a sweet life.
Our bodies are the very much the same. Even when it doesn’t feel like it, our bodies are creating new life and fresh new cells. Our bodies always want to create new cells and energy so we can live our best life. When we are having symptoms –pain, low energy, brain fog, difficulty breathing, feeling old, it is because existing cells are not able to create new, fresh, healthy cells. This happens because, in our fast-paced world, we are surrounded with toxins that damage our cells and create dis-ease. Fast food, stress, working all the time, sitting in front of screen, not getting enough sleep, and running around all the time.. all of which are not part of our natural order and contribute to disease.
Some of the easiest ways to improve our health start with the simplest steps. An example of this? Slow down and eat a meal at the table instead of in the car, on the go. When you eat at the table, you are more likely to eat real food vs. when you are in the car and more likely to eat something processed. Isn’t that true?
Getting healthy is not about doing things that are complicated. It’s not about fad diets or the latest supplements. It is just about taking a fresh look at your health and taking simple steps to get you healthy and happy at the same time.
To Your One Sweet Life,
Dr. Dae
